Terms of Use
Homeschool Assistant
Part of the Synodos One app family
Effective: September 7, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Homeschool Assistant (the "App"). The App is provided by the developer identified on its App Store listing (the "Provider") and published under the Synodos Path brand. Synodos One is a family of apps; it is not an account system, shared database, or cloud service.
If you obtain the App through Apple's App Store, your license to use the App is subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Standard EULA"). These Terms supplement the Standard EULA. If these Terms conflict with the Standard EULA on a matter governed by the license, the Standard EULA controls.
By installing or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Educational and Recordkeeping Purpose
Homeschool Assistant is an educational information and local recordkeeping tool for parents and legal guardians. It can help you:
- Review information about homeschool requirements for a selected state and pathway
- Organize establishment or filing records
- Maintain individual student attendance
- Store testing, immunization, exemption, and other records
- Track checklist items and record whether supporting material is attached, kept outside the App, or not applicable when that option is available
- Produce printable records
The App does not determine, certify, or guarantee legal compliance. It is not a lesson-planning, curriculum, grading, GPA, transcript, test-recommendation, or score-evaluation service.
Not Legal Advice
Information displayed by the App is provided for general educational and organizational purposes only. It is not legal advice, and use of the App does not create an attorney-client or other professional relationship.
Homeschool laws, agency procedures, forms, deadlines, and local practices may change. Some requirements also depend on a family's circumstances, selected legal pathway, county, district, town, or other local authority. The App's information is compiled from official government and other publicly available sources and reflects a snapshot as of the verification date shown in the App.
You are responsible for confirming current requirements with the appropriate official state or local source or a qualified attorney before relying on the App, particularly for filings, deadlines, testing, inspections, or other time-sensitive actions.
Not Medical Advice
The App may display general immunization or exemption information and may store health-related records that you choose to add. It does not provide medical advice. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical guidance.
Who May Use the App
The App is intended for adults organizing homeschool information for children for whom they are a parent, legal guardian, or otherwise authorized to maintain the records. It is not intended for direct use by children.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Entering accurate information
- Confirming current state and local requirements
- Checking that a checklist item, outside-App attestation, or not-applicable selection accurately reflects your records and circumstances
- Reviewing Actual and Projected attendance before relying on or sharing it
- Keeping your device and backup password secure
- Maintaining any backup copies you want to retain
- Reviewing records before printing, sharing, filing, or otherwise using them
- Using the App and stored documents only when you have the right and authority to do so
Attendance, Checklists, and Reminders
Attendance views can use configured school-year dates, weekdays, and recorded exceptions or corrections to calculate assumed instruction days. An Actual report is limited to its stated as-of date. A Projected report uses the full configured school-year range and can include future assumed days. Review both before using them; neither view establishes official attendance or legal compliance.
A checklist item is an organizational status, not verification by the Provider or an authority. A stored file, a "Kept Outside This App" attestation, or an "N/A — Not Applicable This School Year" selection only records the choice made in the App. You remain responsible for deciding whether a requirement applies and for keeping or providing any record an authority requires.
Reminders are local device conveniences. Delivery depends on notification permission, device and operating-system conditions, and your settings. A reminder does not guarantee delivery or extend a filing, reporting, testing, or other deadline.
Your Records Stay Under Your Control
Family records are stored on your device. The App does not send them to the Provider, and the Provider cannot access them through the App. The App has no account system or Provider-operated backend or cloud service for family records.
The App has no advertising network, analytics SDK, or third-party crash-reporting SDK.
Apple Device Backups and Portable Backups
If you enable iCloud device backup or encrypted computer backup, iOS may include the App's local container automatically as part of that device backup. Apple device backups are provided by Apple and governed by Apple's terms and privacy practices. The Provider does not operate, receive, inspect, or restore those backups.
You may create a password-protected portable backup file. The App encrypts the backup before you select where to save or share it. The selected destination may retain the encrypted file under its own terms and privacy practices. The Provider cannot access a portable backup or its password through the App and cannot recover a forgotten password.
Printing, Exporting, and External Websites
When you choose to print, save as PDF, export, or share a record, iOS sends a copy to the printer, application, person, or storage location you select. That destination may process or retain the information under its own privacy practices. Review the selected document and destination before sharing.
The App includes links to government and third-party websites. Opening a link connects your device to that website. The App does not attach or transmit family records to the website; the website may receive ordinary connection information and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy.
Support Communications
If you choose to email homeschool-support@synodospath.com, the Provider receives the information and attachments you include through Google Workspace to respond to your request. A support email is separate from the App's local records; the Contact Support button does not attach family records.
You decide what to include. Contact support to request deletion of a support communication. The Provider will explain if it cannot complete a request because it must retain information to meet an applicable legal obligation.
Availability and Updates
The App and its content may be corrected, updated, changed, or discontinued. Updates may include revised requirement information, software fixes, or changes needed for newer operating systems.
Discontinuation does not intentionally delete information already stored in the App's local container, but an unsupported App may eventually become inaccessible because of device or operating-system changes. Keep an encrypted portable backup or printable copies of records you need to preserve.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of accuracy, completeness, currentness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.
The Provider does not warrant that the App's information will identify every requirement or local variation, prevent a missed deadline, satisfy an authority's request, or establish legal compliance.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Provider is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from use of or inability to use the App. This includes consequences associated with outdated or incomplete information, user-entered information, missed deadlines, device loss, device failure, App deletion, forgotten backup passwords, or user-directed sharing.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Apple's Standard EULA may provide additional terms governing warranties and liability for an App Store copy of the App.
Intellectual Property
The App's original design, software, structure, branding, and original content belong to the Provider or its licensors. Restrictions on copying, redistribution, modification, and reverse engineering are subject to Apple's Standard EULA and any rights that applicable law does not permit the Provider to restrict.
The Provider claims no ownership of family information or documents you enter or store. You retain whatever rights you have in that material.
Changes to These Terms
These Terms may be updated when the App, its data practices, or applicable requirements change. The effective date will be updated when the Terms change. Material changes will be presented through an App update or another reasonable notice before the revised Terms are applied.
Ending Use
You may stop using the App at any time. Delete All App Data in Settings removes the active family, students, attendance, stored records, reminders, and saved attendance exception ranges and drafts, then returns the App to its empty initial setup. Deleting—not merely offloading—the App removes its active local container from that device. Copies outside the App must be managed separately through the applicable service or destination.
