Privacy Policy
Homeschool Assistant
Part of the Synodos One app family
Effective: September 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Homeschool Assistant (the "App") handles information. The App is provided by the developer identified on its App Store listing (the "Provider") and published under the Synodos Path brand. Synodos One is a family of apps; it is not an account system, shared database, or cloud service.
Your Records Stay Under Your Control
Family records are stored on your device. The App does not send them to the Provider, and the Provider cannot access them through the App. The App has no account system or Provider-operated backend or cloud service for family records.
The App has no advertising network, analytics SDK, or third-party crash-reporting SDK.
Information Processed on Your Device
The App stores information that you choose to enter or add, which may include:
- Student names, dates of birth, and grade levels
- State, county, homeschool administrator, school year, pathway, and homeschool history
- Official school or program name, identification number, submission date, and approval date
- Individual student attendance
- Testing information and testing-result documents
- Immunization or exemption records
- Registration, verification, qualification, or other official records
- Reminder choices and dates
- Photos, scans, PDFs, and other files you select
The App uses this information on the device to provide the recordkeeping, status, reminder, backup, printing, and sharing functions you select.
Information the Provider Does Not Receive Through the App
The Provider does not receive or maintain a copy through the App of:
- Family, administrator, or student information entered in the App
- Attendance, testing, immunization, exemption, or registration records
- Photos, scans, PDFs, or other documents stored in the App
- Portable-backup passwords or the readable contents of encrypted portable backups
- Location or advertising identifiers
- App activity for advertising or behavioral analytics
The App does not sell personal information, track users across apps or websites, or use information for advertising.
Website Privacy
This section applies to the Homeschool Assistant website. It is separate from the App's local recordkeeping practices described above.
The website has no account registration, profile entry, contact form, payment function, or upload feature. Synodos Path does not use visitor analytics, advertising trackers, tracking cookies, session recording, fingerprinting, or behavioral profiling on this site.
Hosting and network providers may process limited technical request data—such as an IP address, browser or device information, requested page, request time, and security or error logs—to deliver, protect, and troubleshoot the website. Synodos Path does not use that operational data for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Visiting this website does not provide the Provider access to family records stored in the App. If you choose to email us, your message and address are handled separately from App records and are used to respond to you. Do not email student documents or other sensitive family information.
Support Communications
If you choose to email homeschool-support@synodospath.com, the Provider receives the information and attachments you include through Google Workspace so that it can respond to your request. A support email is separate from the App's local records; the Contact Support button does not attach family records.
You decide what to include. Contact support to request deletion of a support communication. The Provider will explain if it cannot complete a request because it must retain information to meet an applicable legal obligation.
Photos, Files, Camera, and Notifications
The App accesses a photo or file only after you select it through Apple's system picker. A selected item is copied into the App's protected local container. The original item remains wherever you previously stored it unless you delete it there separately.
Camera access is requested only when you choose to scan a paper record. Notification permission is requested only when you choose to enable a reminder. Reminders are scheduled locally on the device; the App does not use a Provider push-notification server.
You can decline camera or notification permission and continue using other App functions. You can change those permissions in iOS Settings.
Apple Device Backups
The App does not operate its own cloud backup or synchronization service. If you enable iCloud device backup or encrypted computer backup, iOS may include the App's local container automatically as part of that device backup.
Apple device backups are provided by Apple and governed by Apple's terms and privacy practices. The Provider does not operate, receive, inspect, or restore those backups. You can manage backup inclusion through your Apple device settings.
Encrypted Portable Backups and Exports
You may create a password-protected portable backup file. The App encrypts the backup before you select where to save or share it. The selected destination—such as iCloud Drive, another storage provider, email, or local Files storage—may retain the encrypted file under its own terms and privacy practices.
The Provider cannot access a portable backup or its password through the App and cannot recover a forgotten password. Anyone who obtains both the backup file and its password may be able to restore its contents.
When you choose to print, save as PDF, export, or share a record, iOS sends a copy to the printer, application, person, or storage location you select. That destination may process or retain the information under its own privacy practices. Review the selected document and destination before sharing.
External Websites
The App includes links to government and third-party websites. Opening a link leaves the App and connects your device to that website. The App does not attach or transmit family records to the website; the website may receive ordinary connection information and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own privacy policy.
App Store and Diagnostic Information
Apple collects information needed to operate the App Store under Apple's privacy policy. Apple may also provide the Provider with aggregated App Store information and, depending on Apple's processes and user settings, crash or diagnostic information. TestFlight may provide diagnostic information for beta builds.
The App itself contains no advertising, analytics, or third-party crash-reporting SDK. App Store or TestFlight information does not give the Provider access to the family records stored inside the App.
Retention and Deletion
Active information remains in the App's local container until you:
- Edit or delete a stored record in the App
- Replace a stored record with another file
- Delete a student and confirm deletion of that student's associated attendance and records
- Turn off a reminder
- Restore an encrypted backup and replace the current family, students, attendance, and stored records
- Choose Delete All App Data in Settings, which returns the App to its empty initial setup and clears saved attendance exception ranges and drafts
- Delete—not merely offload—the App from the device
Deleting or replacing a stored record removes the App's local stored copy. Deleting the App removes its active local container from that device. Copies outside the App—such as an original photo, Apple device backup, encrypted portable backup, printed page, shared file, or saved PDF—remain until you delete them separately from the applicable device, service, recipient, or destination.
There is no Provider account associated with the App's family records and no server-side family-record copy for the Provider to access, return, correct, or erase.
Security
Family records are stored within the App's local iOS container. Imported and scanned documents use iOS file protection, and portable backups are encrypted with the password you choose before export.
No storage method can eliminate all risk. Device security depends on factors such as your passcode, operating-system security, physical control of the device, backup settings, selected sharing destinations, and backup-password strength. Keep the device updated and secured and store portable-backup passwords separately from backup files.
Children's Privacy
The App is intended for parents, legal guardians, and other authorized adults. It is not directed to children, and children cannot create accounts because the App has no account system.
The Provider does not receive personal information about children through the App. Parents and guardians control the information they enter and the copies they choose to export, print, share, or back up.
United States Use
The App is designed around United States homeschool requirements. If it is used elsewhere, the same local-first data-handling model applies, but the App's requirement information may not apply.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy will be updated before any material change to how the App handles information—for example, adding an account, Provider-operated cloud synchronization, or a third-party service. The effective date will be updated, and a material change will be presented through an App update or another reasonable notice before the changed practice is introduced.
